Anybody have one of these? They sure look like a nice piece of machinery. I have a dremel but it just goes to darn fast and melts the material when I work with plastics. Is there a gear reducer for the dremel...hmm

Marty, I think Dremel makes a speed control unit for their hand-held units. A foot controlled rheostat (like a sewing machine foot pedal) would really work ideally. I'll check through some of my supply catalogs and see what I can find.

PS...If you're gonna get serious about woodcarving, save up for the Foredom. They're much more heavy-duty that the Dremel, and can use bits up to 1/4" shank size. Dremel is still good for smaller stuff. [ 01-27-2002: Message edited by: greg ]

If you see a slow down apparatus let me know. I originally got the dremel to do carving stuff. It has been a great tool in my little projects. That one draw back of melting the materials has been the only real problem....maybe ebay has one

Looks like they are only suppose to be used on the non variable dremels. Figures.. Will have to rethink the proper tooling. Those foredoms are tempting, but pricey.
