Any bass fisherman out there? Can't wait till the water warms up enough to see a bass explode on a topwater lure. Used to catch bass all winter in Louisiana, what about here?

What part of Louisiana? My Dad is from there, I have spent alot of time down there My last trip was for speckled trout and oversize reds.
Anyways I was brought up bass fishing, and go occasionally, but find most of my time spent on Steel, and Salmon, and salt water stuff. I need to go again, that would be fun.

Wayne, I'm from NE LA, West Monroe area. Never went saltwater fishing down there although here it is a blast flycasting to reds and would like to take a guided trip on one of my yearly visits. I usually fish the lakes around there or head up to Arkansas for smallmouth/trout in the rivers. Yes, after catching salmon out of our rivers I can see where bass would lose some of its appeal. I'll probably go bassin even less after I catch a steelie. Lake Terrell is only about 3 miles from my house and is a decent little lake so its great for quick action though. If you don't mind a canoe your always welcome to come along. Thanks for the info micro, I had heard people here say you couldn't catch largemouth here til the water temp got above 60. I knew that wasn't true just not as many. Jigs & soft plastics SLOWLY, right?

AEIRESS - Where do you fish in Arkansas? my folks live in NW Arkansas, I go back there about once a year, me and my dad canoe some of the streams up there and fish for smallmouth, I have a mount of an 8lb brown hanging on my wall that I caught in the White river 15 years ago. Hey are there any Crappie in Lake Terrell? Can't beat pan fried Crappie!

QB - Mostly SW Arkansas, the Caddo and Little Mo' rivers. I've canoed and fished the Buffalo once. My buddy and I caught 30+ smallmouths each that day. Arkansas is a beautiful state, I plan on moving there within the next few years. Was thinking about the Hot Springs area but the NW corner is awesome too. I have relatives in Mountain Home and have been up there a few times. Where do your folks live? I don't know if there are any Crappie in Lk. Terrell. Lotsa bream though so could be. I've never caught one bass fishin. Once I was bass fishin on Lk. D'arbonne in Louisiana and caught a 2 lb. crappie on a spinnerbait! Was gonna get him mounted but like you said, they are fine eating fish so he became dinner. I don't know where to catch them around here but know you can. Let's go!

Hey Airees - The folks live in Bella Vista, just short of the Mo. border, couple of good smallmouth streams real close, Elk river and Little and Big Sugar creeks, not as famed as the Buffalo but pretty good for smallmouth. I know of a good crappie lake but it is close to Olympia, so a long hike for you, they don't come easy but I have caught 2lbers there. I might be going Blackmouth fishing Sunday morning out of Everett, my usual partners have something more important to do (church or something) it's trolling with downriggers, and it will probably be cold, but if you are interested shoot me an email, (I'll add it to my profile). It is weather dependent I have a 17 foot boat and if it is too windy than no fishing, anyway email me if you are interested.

yep, about six years ago someone dumped a bunch of golden shiners in the lake. The younger fish are starting to key in on them real good now and are getting fat. The big pigs are still stuck on eating crawdads and sculpins. I knows this not from keeping bass but from volunteering with wdfw for a three year study on a warmwater fish.
