Western Wash. lakes will open up in about a month. I love opening day. I always go to this quiet little lake with nobody on it. It is a true Okay, not really a zipper, Lake Anderson. It is a rush every year to see that many boats on such a small lake. Thank goodness it is electric motor only.

Opening day is always a circus. I go to a few lakes around here just to see the goofballs. Maybe this year I'll take a camera and post some pics of combat fishing at its best.

I am glad nobody took pics of me a few years back. By 9:00 me an my 2 buddies were very drunk, but still fishing. That was until we flipped the 12 foot boat over. After getting things back in order we still kept fishing.

Okay the big day is approaching! Everybody prepared? What will be the first choice for tackle? I have a secret formula I came up with That I am going to try out. If it works I will share.

50/50 Canadian Wonder, heavy style, is our weapon of choice for those little stocker fish.

Frog colored Flatfish is my go-to lure for freshly stocked stocker trout on Opening Day.

EasyLimits, I will have to agree with you on that. Go Froggy! But I do get tired of catching so many that I have to experiment with other stuff

I also like to use a flatfish, Frog, clown, rainbow are good colors. Next would be rooster tails . I like to troll them behind a 4 inch dodger. I have found that the chrome or chrome with snake skin on them work best early in low light the when the sun comes up and is on the water I go with a colored dodger. I am still trying to figure out why changing the dodger seems to work But I cant argue with success. Any of you guys gals going to be at jameson lake. I will be in the 12 foot zodiac fishing the north end.

I don't understand the appeal of opening day. The season is 6 months long, but everyone flocks to the lakes for the opener.

Tradition, Easy limits on hold over trout and furious action if you CnR. No patience required other than for the traffic.

I just love to watch the crowds Sometimes you can see some real stupid people doing weird things, like fishing from an overturned boat in the middle of the lake. Sure wish I could have SEEN that one.
