Winter Trout new

Anybody chasing trout this winter? The cold water helps keep the boating traffic down.

Went to Pass Lake Three weeks ago.My first trip there.Fished very very hard for seven hours and raised one nice 19 in. Rainbow. Next day hit another lake and caught nine fish between 14 and 20 inches in four hours inthe pounding rain. What a great day.I was the only one on the lake.On another board I heard someone say you can't catch winter trout. It is thinking like that that gave me the entire lake to myself. I encouraged them

Fishman, If you can fly cast, there is a fly fishing only year round lake just outside of Bellingham called Squalicum Lake. If you don't fly fish, your best bet would probably be Cranberry Lake in deception pass state park on whidbey island. It is only 45 min. drive from b'ham.

Anyone done any good at Potholes lately? I have heard they are far and few between this time of year. I'm heading over in a few weeks to give it a go.

I don't think Cranberry lake will be very good until May 1 or whenever it is they plant it. Then again I've never had that great of luck at Cranberry. Pass Lake is awesome! I was fishing there once just before dark and I was tired of trying for brown's so I tied on a #16 Parachute Adams. I was fishing for small 8-9" trout. I hooked a small trout and it got really heavy while I was fighting it. I pulled the fish up on the boat launch area and a huge brown and taken the small rainbow I was fighting. Once the brown got into the shallow water it let go and swam away. It was a huge fish though. It bit that rainbow from the tail to in front of the dorsal. Too bad you can't use bait......
