Caveman thinks somehow a black capped chickadee mated with a chestnut backed chickadee and this is the offspring.

AuntyM is right; it is a chestnut-backed chickadee. This small bird is a real favorite of mine. During the cold months of winter, it's fairly easy to get these birds to eat out of your hand. Several years ago, I had one that would follow me about the yard, looking for a hand-out. It was always landing on my shoulder, surprising me. That spring, I had to carry black oil sunflower seeds in my shirt pocket, at all times. Once, I had the binoculars out, and was watching an unusual bird in the neighbor's pasture. This same chickadee flew down and landed on the binoculars. Can you imagine the picture this would have made...Bird watches a bird-watcher!
