Bass survival new
      #59599 - 05/26/03 05:18 PM

Hey I live on a small private lake, and I went down there and to my surprise there were bass swimmin around. Now, there have always been bass in it. The reason it surprises me is the lake completely dried up last summer. I mean every inch. The lake's about 15 acres so that's a lot of water. I just don't understand how the fish could survive. Anyways I went and got my rod and got some good castin in. Caught 10 or so fish, including one about 2-3 pounds. Fun stuff

If you caught 2 to 3 pounders a year later it's likely that lake didn't completely dry up. Bass can tolerate fairly high water temps and low dissolved oxygen levels for quite awhile. Likely there were some unseen pockets of water left.

Hmm, is it possible they buried themselves in the mud and there was water below it. Or enough water in the mud to help them survive??
