Wow! If they use birth control it might harm fish. If they don't use it, we have a much larger population which would create more fisherpeople. More people fishing = more dead fish. I think it is a lose/lose deal here.

Don't people have better things to do than search for estrogen in the water system...

Marty/Mods,

Is it just me? Would this thread be a worthwhile discussion on the "important fish" forum?

Somewhere I have a water quality report for Puget Sound that says caffeine is a commonly found pollutant. The fishes get to enjoy their lattes also.

Yep I can understand how caffeine gets in the water:

3 people trolling for Kings early in the morning with full cups of coffee in hand, FISH ON!!! all the cups get knocked over in the frenzy, afterwards coffee, scales, and fish blood get rinsed into the sound, this probably happens hundreds of times during the summer.

Somebody, somewhere, will conduct a study and determine that excess caffeine in the sound could potentially "harm" wild salmon smolts. This will lead to a rule proposal that sports fishing be shut down in the Sound as, of course, it is determined that sports fishers are responsible for the excess caffeine.

So please use spill proof lids on your coffee cups!

New theory:

The 'slag pile' is really the waste pile from 1 million Puget Sound latte's per day.....
