Dosewallips ??
      #60657 - 06/05/03 08:47 AM

I am headed over to Dosewallips next week and need to know about boat ramps at low tide? My map has 2 boat ramps,Whitney PT and another in Quilicne bay ( name? ) Are they usable at low tide? Any tips on where to clam/crab? Any one else going to be over there? I'll buy you a beer?

Check out Duckabush Tide Flat!
Nice Campsite up the hill on the Duck. (Collins)
Dose tide flat closed for clams. Road washed out one mile below Elkhorn on Dose.
Nice launch at Whitney, although I haven't seen it at -3.9!
Make it Henry's, Please

The ramp at the Quil marina is concrete....the crab are right there in Quil Bay.....and to get there you'll drive right past the WDFW Quil Bay Tidelands access....lots of steamers and oysters. Pt. Whitney is a 4 wheel drive only ramp....crab in the bend of the shoreline just to the west of there.....clams are closed there but oysters are open. Duckabush(noorth of the river) or Quil tidelands are your best bet for clams. Campgrounds with full hookups would be the Cove Park where you turn off Hwy 101 to get to Pt. Whitney and Dosewallips State Park to the south.

My experience is that the BIGGEST crabs will be found in Quil Bay deeper than 100', but that is zipper so don't spread it around.

Old Fart your welcome. If the tides way out you can do pretty good on butters and native littleneck steamers on those boat only beaches.....otherwise it's digging through cobble....well except for one and this is a BIG ZIPPER! Look at your map of Dabob Bay....west side...you see a feature called Broad Spit....mass clams on the north side next to the lagoon entrance. Dig just to the east of it .
I'll stop by for sure as I'll always like to meet members of this board and put a face to the name . Just never ask me for my zipper ling cod spots...those I don't share with hardly anyone .

Hey Goose, are there any crab in 100 feet or less on Quil bay. I only got 100 feet on my pots and don't have time to go pick any more rope??

That'll work Sturz. Run over to the east side of the bay and put your gear in next to the floating oyster-seed rafts.

One more question Goose, I checked the tide tables for a day I'm planning on going to the Quil Bay. I want to get some steamers at the WDFW Quil Bay Tidelands, but low tide is only 2.7 feet. That's not too low if you ask me, however I've never been here. Is this low enough to dig for steamers? Don't need to worry about oysters, just steamers.
Thanks a lot man.

Sturz I had to go scout it out.....there was a +5 at 8pm tonite and at 7pm there was some ground showing above the east/west dike made of cinder blocks and bags of oyster shell. Looks like you'll be able to get your steamers. The WDFW Quil tidelands is the only place where the size limit has been reduced from 1.5 inches to 1.25 inches. Enjoy!
