I am heading over on July 9th for state baseball for my son and was thinking of taking my fishing rod. Is it worth it at this time of the year or is it getting to warm? And can I comfortably fish out of my inflatable kayak or does it get to windy? Any info would be much appreciated.

There are only two nice days a year over there. The rest of the time it is too hot, too cold or too windy
I would strongly recommend asunscreen with an spf of around 87 and lots of cool soothing beverages.
We have slayed 100's of Trout off of the I-90 bridge near the state park drifting nightcrawlers 6 to 16 feet under a slip float.
Good Luck

The weather early in the morning, say daylight to 10:00 is never to warm, the crowds are down, and the fishing is good. There are lots of small lakes, so your boat is fine and the fishing has been pretty good for walleye, bass and trout.

Yeah, early in the morning, that's the ticket! The mosquitos don't usualy don't come out until later in the evening. I have never seen any bigger than, say, a hummingbird, so be sure to bring the DEET.
I really do like ML. My father grew up there and my grandparents had a home on Cascade ave for 40 years. Grandpa worked a D-9 Cat on the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project. He just about single handidly built the whole thing Including the third powerhouse on Grand Coulee Dam. One of my favorites is drift fishing potholes canal for big bad rainbows. 3/8 oz lead above a barrel swivel 24 inches to a nightcrawler threaded on 2 #4 bait holders has slain many many rainbows in there. It was much better before they put in the new spillway, but there are still fish in there. We have caught Trout, crappie, large and smallmouth bass, perch, walleye and beleive it or not Sturgeon in there. Watch out for Snakes!

So night crawlers are probably the best it sounds like. Are there any special bass lures? Topwater or spinner bait? And should we concentrate in the shallows or has everything went deeper? Thanks for the info.

The fish have move out of the shallows for the most part. There isnt a fish that swims over hare that wont eat a nightcrawler. We have been getting most are walleyes on crankbaits lately 10' to 20' down, have also picked up trout to 20" and smallmouths.
