What should you do if?
      #65040 - 07/10/03 11:33 PM

Ok I have a friend who last year while hunting deer in the battle ground unit (any deer) Shot a Doe she dropped like a fly and then jumped up so he shot her again or so he thought. He actually shot 2 deer. He went and got a tag from one of his buddies. What should he have done?

Paid more attention to the animal he first shot. But after making the mistake, I feel he did the right thing. Legal, probably not. I am not sure what the legal thing to do would be.

a couple years ago a freind of mine did the same thing he had actully shoot two deer with the same bullit. they were standing side by side when he took the shot. didnt see the other deer a doe! like a good guy he went to the gamey and told him what he did. welp heres the kicker they got him for poaching the doe! lost his liecince, took his gun, and cost him lots of money in fines. best thing he could have done is tag the buck and walked away from the doe. hard lesson to learn there.

I think your friend did the right thing. I used to know an old guy who shot two spikes the same way. He was upset with himself and embarassed, but did what he could to somewhat right the situation.

My brother years ago made a heck of a long shot on a large muley....course he lost his sight picture.....and when he focused back in the dang thing was still standen there....fired another shot and this time did see that one drop. When he and his hunten partner got to the first one and my bro was admiring his muley rack...his partner wandered off a ways and called back...."if ya think that ones huge come over and see this big boy." Reality is that this does happen even with the best of intentions. In this case his bud tagged the smaller rack.

I was asked her advice and I didn't know what to tell her. Her and her friend got their deer and shared the tagg responsibility. I figured they are blondes maybe that was the problem.

Been there. Stay calm, use head, and if there's any doubt, don't shoot again. I didn't, and there she was deader than a door nail.

But if it would ever happen, I wouldn't turn myself in NOW. Probably leave one and feel like crap for weeks.

First RTlees says:

Quote:

so he shot her again or so he thought. He actually shot 2 deer. He went and got a tag from one of his buddies. What should he have done?

Then he says:

Quote:

I was asked her advice and I didn't know what to tell her. Her and her friend got their deer and shared the tagg responsibility. I figured they are blondes maybe that was the problem.

OK, this is the evidence AuntyM was looking for. Note that from another thread, RTlees admits to being in Brewer's company recently! AuntyM believes contact with Brewer is hazardous to ones mental processes!

First this hunter and pal were males. After spending time with Brewer, RTlees pals changed to females AND into blondes!

Why did I suspect contact with Brewer was hazardous? Simple, the day after Caveman fished with Brewer in the boat, he could no longer tell left from right!

IT is ok, Randy...you don't need to cover Brewer's butt...He does tend to really mess with people's common sense. You will learn eventually (like I have) that while you feel you are innnocent, all along it was Brewer's fault!

RTlees, trust me.... your mental lapse was caused by contact with Brewer!

The only way to regain your mental clarity is to agree with, and reaffirm every post The_Pants makes.

I think it is a good time for RTlees to know and understand the "Brewer effect" It is the main reason the mods can not ban The_Pants as that would lead to mayhem on this board!

The "Brewer effect" does not seem to be permanent, (although it does seem to lead to chronic grammer and spelling errors that are so bad even the spell check can not help!)

AuntyM would never want to discourage anyone from enjoying Brewer's company. Unfortuantely, there is no vaccination as yet. Just be careful that you follow exposure to Brewer with the antidote.

ALWAYS post positive responses to The_Pants, or you will find yourself making major and emabarrassing mist-aches. Specially the grammer/typing ones!

The reality is... I was trying to handle the discrepancy between the posts in a gentle manner....

In case RTlees is the sensitive type.

Will try not to be off topic in the future.

working the graveyard shift allows brewer to search the more boring topics and what do i find? brewer bashing! i knew it, another case of keeping the brewer down. randy and bux thank you for watching brewer's back. owe you both a chilled ipa. so auntym what your saying is without the pants the brewer would infect this boards members like a virus huh? yes brewer has powers, stronger than the pants could ever contain. brewer just chooses to keep them contained voluntarily. why because i'm a helluva guy...
