New or used Marty??? Dodge guys will go hmmm Cummins!! Ford guys Powerstroke baby!! I think that they are both good trucks. I have the stroke and am very pleased with it. I am sure there is a discussion board site for Dodges, I know there is for Fords (www.thedieselstop.com). Might want to find go there and ask what what to look for if it is used. Here is a link to a couple I found http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/yabbse/index.php?board= or http://www.dieselram.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

I sold a 96 Cummins x-cab 4x4 about 5 months ago that I bought new. It was a great truck. Not 1 motor problem. It did go through brakes pretty quick, but I hear the Fords do as well. I purchased a 03 6.0 Power stroke, and besides having it in the shop 3 times since new, it is a really nice truck. LOTS of power compared to the 96 Cummins, but I hear the new Cummins is a really good. My buddy just sold a 2000 Cummins with 150k on it with no problems. One thing I found is the Doge is a lot easier to turn in tight spots, the Ford takes a city block to turn around.

It will tow it but would be nice to have a power plant for major road trips

Marty...the Cummings is a great power plant and you can expect about 20MPG (some get 22-24) many run 600,000 to 1,000,000 miles before needing a rebuild. It has a lot of power so the weak link is the automatic transmison so if it is a stick that is even better. Cummings has de tuned it because of the tranny so with a chip you can really bump up the hp/tork to as high as you want.GO FOR IT
