Who knows alot about Chevy trucks?
      #69573 - 08/10/03 05:53 PM

Need to replace the rear end of my 85 full sized chevy blazer (4x4). I have an email out to Chevy, but waiting response. Blew out the rear axle. Found it's cheaper to by a replacement axle off a parting truck then to rebuild. But have heard conflicting reports on what years are acceptable (have to have same gearing ratio). So, any ideas of cross fits?

What you have is most likely a 10 bolt 8 1/2 inch rear end If you go to the junk yard they are 500 to 700 bucks and you still will have to replace the seals atleast, I would replace my truck rearend with a arb locker it is expensive 600 for the differential and 200 for the air compressor. But if that is to steep, you can rebuild the whole thing replaceing ring/pinion bearings and seals (not axles) for less than 500 bucks but you will need a dail indacator with magnet mount to set the back lash. and buxndux is on crack if he like dodge products they are the worst for any warranty cusromer assistance ect.. anyway that should get him going heehe anything else just ask

AH, it's all fixed awhile ago. Still haven't heard back from Buzzy about his kit. Hmmm, wonder if he fell off face of the earth???
