Hey, Oldman1, ALL are welcome here, as far as I am concerned! Besides, when you get to high levels in business, it is for the rarest commodity in the world - COMMON SENSE! So don't feel inferior to anyone here - you went to "The Great School of Hard Knocks" - and that's a school to be proud of! Besides, I HATE SNOBS! So just be yourself, that's all it takes.

Just remember - a fish with a brain the size of a pea makes us ALL look foolish at times!

College was a while ago. I never studied more than the minimum Eng 101 and I skipped most of those classes . I was in Science and those 'in charge' of grad school admissions didn't like it if you took too many 'artsy' courses. I got a lot of flak from my advisor for taking a History of Medicine course, and I was one of those annoying pre-med keeners grubbing for every last percentage point. My wife almost didn't get into grad school because she took a filler class 'History of Architecture' and she was one of those people who got 90% and above without even studying . Proof of how smart she is: she gets to stay home while I work for the man.

Yrs later, all those classes in Genetics/Biochem are a vague memory, I still don't know squat, and now I get paid to bash keys, break software, and find fixes...huh?

None of that matters more than fishing anyway

I am an existentilist who sold out on capitalistic courses to make a living.

Heres a good site on existentilism.

http://www.interchange.ubc.ca/cree/

Reminds me I still have more Sarte, Camus, Hesse, etc to read, maybe when I am retired.

Now I am reading miserable state and federal laws and fly fishing books.

I loved the academic world I tell my sons to enjoy it all you can, but did he have to take my fly material dresser I ask you. Well back to the garbage bags for a while I guess

UBC That's my alma mater hosting that site. Back when I was there, PC's weren't readily available and bloody 'spensive.
Ever heard the Monty Python philosopher's song? I'll send you the lyrics if I can type them up without dying laughing and remember them

"Emmanual Kant was a drunken pissant who really liked his Schlagel
Rene Descartes was a drunken fart I drink therefore I am.."

I'm more of an Objectivist, but I haven't read any Philosophy stuff in a lonnnnnnggg time.

My son will likely be paying for college on the 'Yessir/shorthair' plan. Someone asked my wife if that was limiting his choices, and she says he has lots of choice; Marines, Navy, Army, Air Force, or Coast Guard.

RIGHT ON! My great-nephew is entering Cornell with a full Naval ROTC scholarship (Marine option)! His dad is a full colonel in the Marines, and an Naval Academy graduate! (Flier - flew A6s in Desert Storm, and currently FA-18s.)
