Wanna Learn Some Public Duck Hunting Spots? new
      #65583 - 07/14/03 04:59 AM

Washington Waterfowl Association work party.

Date is Saturday September 13th. 0900

We are going to be brushing up the blinds that we built last year on the Slater Rd. in Ferndale 7-8 blinds if I remeber right.
Then another crew will be working on all the blinds up at Terrell. The majority of the Terrell blinds are boat in blinds but there are a few very productive walk in blinds that we will also be brushing.
There are also a couple of blinds on the Intalco unit that will need to be done.

This is a great opportunity to learn a great public area that at times can be very productive with the birds. Last year we had a great turnout (about 20) including a State Legislature. I'll put the invitation out again to him and see what happens. These three areas are within about 5 miles of each other and will hopefully only take about a half day to complete, depending on the turnout?

We have also been kicking around the idea of having a crab feed afterwards on the shores of Birch Bay state park (approx. 5 miles North of Terrell) with the "Cajun" doing a boil. The camping there is great but reservations are highly recommended. The silvers should be pounding the banks chasing bait so a good chance of hooking into a few them is a possibility.
We can talk about the crab feed more indepth if there is enough interest.

Tools for the brushing party are pruners, weed eaters, zip ties, a few boats for the lake, tie wire, twine, and anything else you can think of.

Please post up any questions or suggestions and if your gonna attend.

Thanks!

Otto I spent 5 years hunting Lake Terrel and Tenant and a few other places I'm sure you know of. Was some good times. Really wish I had that kinda opportunity where I live now. Keep up the good work!

Goose you are more than welcome to come on up and help out. Crabbing should be flat out awesome and the silvers should be flopping around.. Make a weekend of it!

We are gonna meet at the Slater Rd. parking lot at 0900 Saturday the 13th.
That exit is just a few past Bellingham. I think it is #266 but will verify and post later in the week.
Exit and go over the freeway, cross the RR tracks and keep an eye open for a dirt parking lot on the right. If you go over the Nooksack river bridge you have gone to far, turn around!

It is exit 260 the one just past the bellingham airport exit.

Take a left over I-5 and and head west. Go over the RR tracks and look for a dirt parking lot on the north side of the road. If you go over the Nooksack river bridge turn around you have gone to far..

Hope to see a Steelheader.net or two show up.....

Had a great time, missed you Steelheader.net folks. We will be conducting a tour on Oct. 4th. of the area for the Washington Waterfowl Association, come on up last chance to learn it before the seasons start.

My lips become zippered during the season.

Here is some pictures and the crew from last weekend.
