Well,I, like most of you just happen to enjoy what nature has to offer. This weekend , while hunting for things other than deer ,stumbled upon a few things other than "mammals". Those of the mushroom variety. It's been a long dry season and the long awaited mushrooms are finally popping up! Let's disregard the many 'Death Caps' that are blooming right now and get straight to the good stuff. The weather was dry and warm this past weekend slowing 'Blacktail ' activity to a minimum. We decided during the "off hours " of hunting to search some of the "Forestal Fungicidal" type growth with decent results. After all Isn't the idea not to go hungry and to "Live off the land"? Anyways, did well on Chantrelles,Angel Wings, Orange Peel Fungus, Coral Mushrooms, several Boletes "Slippery Jacks", some "Witches Butter", and a few " Ressulas". All of which we enjoyed back at camp "mixed and sauteed in the utmost secret variety of seasonings and sauces". After the latest heavy rains many of the species were "prompted to sprout!". Hunting was slow 'Although buddy shot a "Spike"' so we ,at times, deferred to 'shroom hunting'. Even though we ate well off the vegetation, we hope to do better off the "mammalazation". In any case, happy hunting to everyone, for............ whatever.

No Honey Caps or 'Shaggies'. Have seen 'em plenty of times but wasn't looking for them, know what I mean. Would like to try them though. Been picking the others for awhile but still learning about new ones. Love them shrooms.
