Yes ! - Micro Fly Fishing new

fyi

Now those 6 inch trout and pan fish, etc. will be given a fair chase with appropriate fly tackle. How about for those small high mountain stream and pond trout, and it will be easy to carry.

That is too cool. I think I'd buy one just for some small trout streams I used to fish in my youth. Would make one helluva fight for those that used to be a dull with my old glass 5wt I had.

Hmmmm, one question though? What kind of line is it rated at. A -4wt?

Maybe they have a spey model for guys like Fred, you know one with an extension butt so he can use two hands and have it feel more natural to him.

Micro spey fly fishing, it could be a new subject area on the WW spey clave, perhaps. (please don't quote me though Fred you can fly with it and use my idea if you like.)

Sorry, guys - NOT a new idea. Carrying this to its logical conclusion, there would be NO rod, just a reel to hold in your hand. Yeah - handlining.

This, based upon the laws of leverage, gives the fisherman an obvious leverage advantage over the longer rod.. Believe me, I've tried "mini fly rods" in split bamboo, 2 feet long. There's no sport in it, and the novelty quickly wears off. (The rods in question were manufacturer's samples of their product - a common practice in the '30s and '40s.)

Sorry, guys...

I like their advertizing. Cast a 30" rod 25 ft. Hell I can throw the whole thing farther than that.LOL

Hey Bob, you gotta remember some of us have Dad's who weren't twinkles in THEIR Daddy's eyes in the 30's and some of the 40's. So I have never seen them. Well, not fly rod. But I do have small trout rods that size.

Yeah, Jerry...

A fish has a lot more (3 times) leverage pulling on the "free" end of a 9' rod than he does on a 3' rod. Remember - your 4 to 5" hand is the "load" he is trying to move.

Most guys don't think of it that way, but that's the way it happens. We increase our "leverage" when we use two hands or a fighting butt.

If it's to be a spey rod it has to be at least 4.5 foot long .. including the handle extention.
