Well the freezing weather probably ruined any last minute picking.. Is there any hope or do we need a warm spell?

There's hope...I thought mushrooming was over for the season, but just talked to friends who went out this afternoon. Both got a nice mess of chanterelles. Not a great quantity, but some of the best quality found this year. If it's not raining hard and blowing, I'll be in the woods tomorrow!

It WAS raining and blowing too hard, but we went picking anyway. Found about a dozen chanterelles in prime to past prime condition. It was so dark, foggy, and rainy in the woods at 3:00pm, that you couldn't see squat.

The rains might bring up a fresh batch... been a tough year for quality.
