Green Jasper new
      #41035 - 04/14/02 07:34 PM

Thinking I might have a piece of local jade again I packed a rock home...err boulder. The rock turned out to be jasper instead. Heck I suck at figuring out what it is but seem to still hit the jackpot [Smile] . Another good find.. This rock was in the surf and was super smooth, so smooth it didn't have the typical sea life growing on it. It was a very dark green color with some very fine white and lighter green mixed in. Hard for the amatuer eye to tell the inside of the rock until it was sliced.

There is a creek here near CLear Lake that flows into the deschutes river that has some green rocks I always found interesting, never did find out what they were. There is also a petrified log in a small cave on the bank of it in one spot...

I did find a small chunk of red jasper on my lastest outing. These can be very nice inside when sliced. It will make a nice book end or slice it to make coasters.
