Hey Jerry,
I started a bag of Widgeon flanks and a bag of mallard flanks with your name on 'em. Will be hunting tomorrow and Sunday and with this weather there should be a lot of quackers dropping by. I will contact you when I have enough to make it worth your while.
later

Bringing it back up. Thanks to those who have saved me some birds. But always can use more. Especially Wigeon and mallard flanks. Would LOVE a eurasion wigeon. But know they are hard to get (for myself too). But any would be appreciated.

SH69 I have waitinf for you a baggie full of mallard flanks and a baggie full of widgeon flanks and I have a pretty drake widgeon cape drying for you right now. If the flows are okay I'll be on the nooch at least one day this weekend, if you're not I'll just stick the dried cape in the freezer and try and add another one or two before the end of duck season. We can hook up later. Also I am going to dye some mallard flanks for my own use pretty soon would you like some of them. I use Veniard's dyes from England they are really good dyes. I am going to do burnt orange and purple, but have most colors. Let me know if you want a batch of dyed Mallard and what color.
On another funny note I have only seen one Eurasian in range in my entire hunting career. We were sculling in a flood and I got my frontseater little cousin within about 20 yards and he missed. I was infuriated, I shouldn't have kept saying over and over as we floated up "Whatever you do don't miss the one on the right, KILL the one on the right!" I think the pressure got to him and he choked.
VW the flanks that flytiers prefer are the barred feathers under the wing on the body continuing up onto the back. They are usually found only on the drakes. Mallard, and widgeon have nice flanks, but so do teal they look like mallard only the bars are darker. Wood ducks have the most sought after flanks around (yellow and black).
Good hunting

Yup, would be great. I may make a trip down to the Nooch with the kids this weekend. So a possibility. Yeah, I know the dye you're talking about quite well. Have an account with them direct in the UK. I just don't use them that much, since I have to pay import costs since I'm buying as a business. But is good stuff. If you do some dying, I'd love some in both colors you're talking about.
Yeah, I know someone who just got a Eurasion, but can't talk him out of it. lol. But sounds good. Will PM you my cell.
