humminbird 3000 deep fishfinder ???'s

I just purchased a humminbird 3000 deep fishfinder and am not sure if it is what I should have purchased. I do all of my fishing in under 600' of water and quite a bit under 400' of water, sometimes even in 10-60' of water. Before I install this on my boat I want to make sure that i have a good fishfinder and that there isnt something I should have bought instead.
