Fixing middle guides new
      #75721 - 09/20/03 08:28 AM

I have a guide in the middle of my rod where the insert is coming out. What are my best options for fixing that? Should I just use some superglue or something.

Thanks for the help.

Patrick

Ill fix it for ya, no kidding, I just got done with a couple of others, all I need is more high build rod epoxy from flex coat, if you have any others that need to be fixed just mark them, find your thread that matches your rod and send it along.

Im just going to go fishing for a couple of hours;) or <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> = , honey. I`ll be back before you wake up.

i have a broken guide in the middle of my lami. there's a small tackle shop on main street in puyallup that the guy builds rods there also. he charges 12.50 a guide to replace is that a fair price?? guess it is to have your rod fix'd up

Ron,
Yeah, I would say that is a fair price. If you did it yourself you would spend at least that much on a bottle of finish, a spool of thread and a guide.

If you learned to do it yourself you might get hooked on rod building and that would turn into another expensive hobby... Yeah you're better off just paying someone...

Hi All,
My problem is keeping the guides ( eyes ) in line on the finer top sections. Any advice?

Rodney,

Hold rod at arms length, pointed away from you, using a light object as a background, guides down.

By eye, center guides on the blank by looking for equal amount of the rings on each side of the blank.

Hi Don,
Thanks for the advice, it worked a treat.
This is my first attempt at building my own rod and I am very greatful for any advice given.
What book on the subject would you recommend.

HAVE A HAPPY AND PEACEFUL CHRISTMAS.
