St Croix Imperial Spey Rods
      #99209 - 02/03/04 02:52 PM

Hi Guys,

Been away for a while, actually fishing. I have a chance to pick up a St Croix Imperial 13', 7/8, 3 piece Spey Rod for $200 plus shipping. Has anyone fished this rod? How does it perform and is this a decent dal?

Yhanks for any info.

I have had it for two years its the only spey rod my fly shop owner carries for our GLs steelhead fishing.

Go for it if you don't like it let me know I could always use a back up and will give a fair price.

They list for $ 240.

BTW thats a picture of it in my avatar with the Marryat reel.

Good luck.

I have a St. Croix 9/10 14" that I have been fishing for a couple years. It's not the lightest rod in the world, but it is indestructible.

Aaron, at River Run Anglers, recently set me up with a Loop Adapted 10/11 line that I cast Skagit style with tips. I gotta say this is a pretty nice setup now.

Yes I looked at it last week at the fly show here. The St Croix rep is a friend of mine. They had all three of their models there. Just wish they had a 8/9 weight 14 footer, think the 9/10 is too heavy for what I need here in GLs rivers.

Yes it did look indestructable.

We will see.

Yep Aaron's quite the Spey man He's working his darnest to get me into this way of fishing. And I went there to work out my problems this weekend and I think that I found my problem. I also have the 14' 9/10 St Croix and yes it is a log to cast. I'm trying to get into a 8/9 CnD Custom Spey rod.
