Bringing a shotgun from Washington to Alaska?

I will be driving from Wa. to Ak. next month. In this day of post 9-11 concerns, is it legal to bring a shotgun across the Canadian Border to Alaska and vise versa. I would much rather bring one of my own scatter guns than buy a POS in Petersburg second hand. The only reason I want to bring a shotgun is the fact that I will be camping in the bush during the entire trip.

All of the latest high tech. gadgets don't put more fish on the banks, you have to know what you're doing!
