Idea for a new rod design
      06/30/08 11:09 PM

I saw in the local shop (Murray Pacific) a rod by Penn called the Torque.
This was a cool rod but not for Southeast Alaska, so here is my idea.
The same grips as the Torque but the rod itself be 9' to maybe 10' 6" depending on preference. I'm partial to the 9' stick but a 10' would be cool for this design.
essentially you have a stand up tuna stick grips, nice and wide with the gimbal butt, The Reel seat would be like that of a typical mooching or casting rod with the trigger, the rod be a medium heavy action line wt 10-25...
I'd end up with this super Trolling or Mooching rig that would have the action of the favorite trolling rod like a shimano clarus or convergence or Lamiglas salmon moocher, but with the comfort and feel of a big game halibut stick.
nothing like this exists that I know of as the Torque is only a 6ft rod. This would be similar but way cooler and be the ultimate Alaska King Trolling rod. I want to put a Penn 12T International on top of it. Anyone out there that can build this prototype?

Have boat, will Fish
