Found myself with some extra time last night so I started the new project. Was happily reaming the rear grip and dry fitting when I noticed the finish on the blank got scratched. Must have had a piece of grit from the reamer inside. It didnt go deep enough to scratch the graphite matrix so I tried filling it with a bit of rod varnish. The the scratches are filled but still visible. Its right whrere the label will be and since I'm going with a subtle, clear label treatment on this one the scratches are unacceptable. Terrible thing to do to a brand new XST blank. Anyway, I'll be ordering another XST1085 tomorrow. Will hang onto the old one and either build one for myself or sell it as a blem.
